The Towcester Area Door to Door, formerly the Towcester and District Voluntary Transport Service, has been
operating in the Towcester area for the
past 21 years. Our service relies on
volunteer drivers using their own cars
to take those who have no transport of
their own, to health related
appointments at health centres,
hospitals and day centres etc.
Are you a car driver and do you have a
reliable car? Are you a caring person?
Do you have a little spare time to help
your neighbours in Hartwell and the
surrounding area? Could you drive for
us on a regular or occasional basis?
From April 2003 - March 2004 we
provided 257 passenger return
journeys for residents in Hartwell.
Unfortunately, we have NO volunteer
drivers in Hartwell and so we have to
rely on drivers from nearby villages to
help which gives rise to extra costs in
dead mileage for our charity.
Recently, some of our regular drivers
have moved out of the area or have
had to cut back on their help due to
health problems, and requests for
transport which are currently between
30/40 per day are increasing rapidly.
Therefore, with fewer drivers available,
we often have to refuse transport to
those who are desperately in need.
You need to have Full Comprehensive
Insurance, most insurers won't charge
you any more and we have insurance
to cover you and your passenger while
you are not in the car. You will get 40p
per mile to cover your fuel costs.
So, if you could help, even if it is only
for 2-3 hours per week, please contact
us. The more volunteer drivers
we have, the easier it is to share the
workload and the fewer passengers
we shall have to let down.we have, the easier it is to share the
