Girl Guides began in 1910. Today, Girlguiding remains popular amongst girls between 5-16, starting as Rainbows 5-7, then Brownies 7-10 going on to Guides 10-16.

There are units in Quinton, Hackleton and Roade, for some there is a waiting list.

Of course the programme has changed considerably since 1910, I cannot imagine the Guides oj 1910 attending a pop concert or abseiling down the fire station building nor can I imagine todays Guides buying navy serge to make uniforms, including the knickers!

However the values of Guiding have remained the same, a commitment to a common standard where the girls are encouraged to respect other people and their opinions. To value themselves and to help wherever they can.

Roade Guides

We meet on Thursdays at St. Mary's Church Hall, Roade from 7.30 p.m. - 9.00 p.m.
If you would like to make new friends, take up new interests and go on trips, then
please call Judy Bexon on (01604) 863982 or email roadeguides@hotmail.com. This
coming term we are going to Cadbury World, taking part in activities with other Guide groups and camping. We also need adults to help, so whether you want to come along every week or every three weeks or every month, then we would like to hear from you. Come along and try it, you will enjoy it. We Promise!

Many of todays leaders have been Guides themselves, many have joined Guiding as adults. Guiding in our area desperately needs adults to help, it can be a regular commitment or occasional. If you have any special talents that you feel could be passed onto the Guides of today, please contact me jor more information.

All adults are CRB checked.
