(Registered Charity No. 800622)

2005 has been a very good year for allotment holders on the Ashton Road
Site. The varied weather, comprising very warm periods with intermittent,
and at times heavy rainfall, has led to bumper crops. The water supply has
helped enormously as it was possible for the first time to water crops and
keep them actively growing during the periods of hot dry weather.

There are still vacant plots on both Allotment Sites. The two areas are
known as Jeff’s Field, which is near Folly Lane and Little Green, which is off
Ashton Road. Annual subscriptions are presently £5.00 and £2.50 for
pensioners.

The Ashton road site has a mains water supply and to cover the cost of
water the annual subscription for this site will be an extra £5.00 per plot.
Plots, particularly at the Ashton Road site, tend to become vacant rather
frequently. So, if you are interested in growing your own fresh vegetables
and flowers and indulging in a spot of healthy outdoor exercise, please
contact any of the Committee members who will be happy to assist in
adding your name to the short waiting list.

Remember that now is the ideal time of year to start to prepare a plot for
next season—so strike whilst your spade is hot!
