The origins of Salcey Precision Engineering can be traced back as far as the Second World War when “Salcey Jig and Tool” was in existence. The company occupied a shed in the back garden of 12 Forest Road, Hartwell, and some of the existing workforce were still there in 1972 when Mr Howard Smart, the Proprietor, sold the business.

Ken Parfitt, a qualified engineer from Towcester, entered into partnership with Tony Smith to expand the company’s traditional business in the aerospace industry and the company was renamed “Salcey Precision Engineering Limited”.

Tony Smith eventually left the business but the company has since employed three further Directors to help the ongoing development of the business.

In 1983, the company moved to a purpose built factory on the outskirts of the village and now employs around 25 people. Its pursuit of technological development and quality led it to become the first company in Northamptonshire to achieve BS 5750 approval.

Salcey Precision Engineering now stands as one of the largest sub-contract companies in the county, and is now heavily involved in the manufacture of components for the Formula One industry to supplement its traditional aerospace background.
