Tove Valley Superfast Broadband
at www.wappenham.net

In Wappenham's Winter 2011 Newsletter, a flyer was inserted regarding Superfast Broadband. It gave some information about Abthorpe's Broadband Association (AbBA), a not-for-profit community organisation which provides high speed connection to Abthorpe, and the possibility of joining forces to upgrade the service and receive Superfast Broadband in Abthorpe and Wappenham (as well as adjoining villages). Some of you will have responded to NCC's survey in the hope that a service might be introduced by one of the existing commercial suppliers.

Wappenham is unlikely to receive Superfast Broadband within the next 5 years and beyond. The Tove Valley Superfast Boradband project is a community driven, not-for-profit, alternative to mainstream commercial suppliers. As you are aware AbBA has already put in an outline bid in order to provide this service. This was very well received and AbBA is now in a position to put in a full bid.

Wappenham Parish Council fully support the project, and have been liaising with AbBA.

As you may have guessed this requires some work on our part short-term, but if successful, long-term as well. The speeds that we will be able to achieve are substantially better than the current average of .5mbps. Depending on your needs you would be able to subscribe to the service and receive anywhere from 2 mbps to 100mbps. Working from home will no longer be a problem, neither will listening to iPlayer, downloading music, using Skype or any other videoconferencing and communication tool (VOIP) to contact your friends and family.

We are hoping that residents will support the project. We would also appreciate any help you can provide at any stage of the project.
